Cheese Crackers

Snacks are one thing our kids genuinely enjoy and have a hard time not having. Call it a habit or maybe they’re just growing kids looking for fuel. But one of their favorites was Cheezits. Unfortunately those, like pretty much anything in a box, are super high in carbs. I experimented a bit with various slices of cheese and this one that fills the gap splendidly. Low and slow plus the thickness of the slices made the perfect combination.

Software

  • Sargento Sharp Cheddar, ULTRA THIN slices (a whole package)
  • Pinch of salt

Hardware

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pizza cutter

Application

  1. Preheat oven to 250F.
  2. Lay a single layer of parchment paper on the baking tray.
  3. Spread out enough slices of cheese to loosely cover the tray. (We’ll be spreading them out in a second.) Mine held about six.
  4. Using the pizza cutter, quarter each slice and spread them out to evenly cover the baking tray.
  5. Sprinkle a few specks of salt on each one.
  6. Bake at 250 for about 35 minutes. Low and slow is the key with these or they ooze all over the place or burn.
